Hi everybody! Mark attended the Miami premiere and press conference for his new movie Pain and Gain on April 11th. Both the premiere and the press conference were held in Miami Beach, Florida. The press conference was held at the Mandarin Oriental. I apologize for the lateness of the photos. You can check out 86 MQ photos in the gallery. Enjoy!
For Mark Wahlberg, playing a bodybuilder with criminal tendencies in the upcoming film “Pain & Gain,” wasn’t too much of a departure. All the actor had to do was draw on his past experiences as a youth in Boston with a taste for trouble.
Wahlberg convinced director Michael Bay to allow him to adopt an accent for the film – a choice that Bay, as well as co-stars Anthony Mackie and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, was befuddled by.
“They don’t have that criminal mentality like me,” Wahlberg said in an interview with MTV News. “I know how to do s–t. I’ve robbed people in the past, so you can’t be just like, ‘Hey, dude, what’s up? It’s me, Mark. Listen, give me your s–t!’ ”
Wahlberg famously had a history of drug addiction and received multiple assault charges growing up. The actor explained in 2011 that he decided to quit smoking marijuana for his children, saying, “One day, we were driving and you could smell it from somewhere. My daughter asked what the smell was so I told her it was a skunk. Then she said, ‘Sometimes Daddy smells like that!’ to me and my wife. So I knew I had quit.”
Survivors of the murder, torture and kidnapping case in South Florida have come out against the plot line of the recent film Pain & Gain, which is based on events that took place two decades ago. Worse than that, it’s being billed as an action-comedy. Even worse than that, it stars Dwayne Johnson.
“You are talking about real people. And in this particular case, especially when you’re talking about the murder victims, these were innocent victims,” retired Miami-Dade Police Sgt. Felix Jimenez said to the Miami Herald of the film, which is based on a group of bodybuilders who plot a kidnap get rich quick scheme that eventually builds to murder.
Zsuzsanna Griga told The Miami Herald that the movie’s depiction was all the wrong. It portrays the gang as sympathetic buffoons trying to get ahead, but she says that couldn’t be further from the truth. She should now too, her brother and his girlfriend were murdered and dismembered by them. “It’s horrible what happened to them,” she said Griga “I don’t want the American public to be sympathetic to the killers.”

The film is scheduled to come out at the end of the month – April 26th to be precise – and it stars Mark Wahlberg, Rebel Wilson and Ed Harris alongside Johnson.
