Hello everybody! I am Eric and I am the new owner of Mark Wahlberg Web. Melanie Jo decided to step down from the site due to lack of time and she kindly passed the site onto me. I have been a huge, huge fan of Mark’s for such a long time and I am very excited to be running the site. I will be working on updating the site content within the next few days, as well as updating the gallery with all kinds of new photos. Speaking of the gallery, I uploaded 2,000+ screen captures of Mark from his new movie Contraband. Along with screen captures from the movie, I uploaded screen captures of Mark from the DVD bonus features, which includes several deleted scenes and 2 featurettes. For the time being, the screen captures are only DVD quality, but in time when I get my hands on an HD copy, I’ll replace them with all HD quality caps. I hope you guys enjoy the Contraband screen captures and keep checking back for all kinds of new updates! :) -Eric

‘Contraband’ behind-the-scenes: Mark Wahlberg kicks the crap out of everyone — EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

No one enjoys being on the receiving end of Mark Wahlberg’s fist. “Most of the actors are very method. But they don’t like being method with me kicking the sh–t out of them. They like being method kicking the sh–t out of someone else,” Wahlberg says in this exclusive clip from a behind-the-scenes featurette on the Contraband DVD/Blu-ray, out April 24.

And Wahlberg kicks himself into shape, too. “Working with Mark’s great,” stunt coordinator Darrin Prescott adds. “He’s one of those guys … he doesn’t need much from the stunt department.” [xx]

Mark Wahlberg: family man, business man, renaissance man

Mark Wahlberg has just got off a plane from Australia – and he does not want to do this interview. It shows in his limp handshake, his lack of eye contact, and in the way he punctuates our time with either a monosyllabic answer, or a comically protracted yawn.

All of which is fine – he’s a jetlagged father of four, after all – if a little tedious. But then, Wahlberg must be used to tedious. Nearly every interview he’s done since his remarkably sensitive breakout role in 1997′s Boogie Nights has started with his shady past, and ended with a touching portrait of the young man as father. So the Guardian asks him straight: is there anything he’s sick of speaking about?

“I’ll let my interpreter answer that,” he says dismissively, sinking into an armchair, leaning back and closing his eyes. His “interpreter” is Howard, an affable long-time friend with a severe speech impediment whom he’s known since the early 90s. He’s an odd choice of entourage; a cynic might suggest he’s there for Wahlberg to genially employ as an occasional human shield against conversational topics he’d rather not delve into.

But quite why Wahlberg – named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2011 – should need any such protection is confusing. He’s made it clear since his cocky, Entourage-style days as rapper Marky “brother of New Kid Donnie” Mark, that he doesn’t much care what anyone thinks. And to be fair, why would he? Here’s a man who beat the odds on a past filled with violent crime, jail time, drug-dealing and street hustling followed by redemption to become an A-list actor and heavyweight Hollywood TV producer. Frankly, I’d be taking a nap too.

Over the next 45 minutes, Wahlberg snaps out of his torpor only when the subject matter piques his interest. I ask about his children, and instantly, he’s a different man; animated, alert and brimming with adoration.

“Look at this guy,” he says, showing me his son Brendan. “He wants me to sleep in his little race-car bed, and he keeps watching to make sure I don’t leave till he falls asleep.”

Mark Wahlberg’s 9/11 gaffe: ‘I was there to talk about the movie’

Mark Wahlberg has apologized and apologized again for ill-considered remarks about what he might do if he were on one of the planes that hit the World Trade Center on Sept. 11.

On Friday, the “Contraband” star put a little context around his remarks, and his apologies — and described the role of the journalist who conducted the interview in question.

“Because of the fact that I had a reservation on one of those flights, it’s always a topic of conversation,” Walhberg noted in a chat with WPLJ-95.5 radio’s morning team, coming off 13 hours of work.

This past week, with the release of promotional blurbs for the Men’s Journal interview in which he made the comments, “I got blindsided by the fact that people thought I was being disrespectful to the victims of 9/11 and that was, to me, a horrific thing and i wanted to address it right away,” Wahlberg said. Hence, the quick apologies.

The gaffe, for those who missed it? “If I was on that plane with my kids,” Wahlberg told the magazine, “it wouldn’t have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.’”

So how did those ill-considered words make their way out of his mouth?

“I’ve got this journalist who’s asking all the questions, and I’m trying to promote a movie and he’s asking me, you know, about sex and this and that and I’m like, dude, I’ve got a wife and four kids and this is not appropriate. … It wasn’t a Q&A, it wasn’t like all of a sudden I decided I was going to get on this soapbox and talk about my opinion about 9/11. I was there to talk about the movie,” Wahlberg explained.

Before the radio interview aired, several families of 9/11 victims told the New York Post they thought an apology was great, but that Wahlberg should use the opportunity to publicly visit the 9/11 Memorial and possibly help with fundraising for the memorial and museum.

On Wednesday, Wahlberg told TMZ, “To speculate about such a situation is ridiculous to begin with,” adding, “I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive, it was certainly not my intention.” [xx]
